Alphabet

"From The Fifth Continent"

Bottle tops and penny slots, with coins of every size

Brother sings on woollen strings, a song for all the lies

Summer days, the endless haze of happiness and life

Brother calls the ocean walls, the child’s paradise.

Though I try, I can’t forget

I learned to cry before I had learned my alphabet

My alphabet

Dignity put to the test by the hypocrites and ties

Brother wears his Sunday best, while shaking off the flies

In pretty rows, they sit in bows, your sins you hold inside

Sister weeps while brother sleeps, within the great divide

The race is on and you can bet,

The odds are stacked in favour of my alphabet

A to B with no regrets

It’s easier when you have learned your alphabet

Your alphabet

My alphabet, my alphabet

Talkin’ ‘bout my alphabet

My alphabet

Crazy verse, the adolescent curse, will fool you every time

New guitars and teenage bars, a mountain there to climb

Someone dares but no one cares, its time to throw the dice

Now brother’s old, his soul is sold but no one pays the price

Though I try, I can’t forget

I learned to cry before I had learned my alphabet

Sit back down I haven’t finished yet

I’m gonna make you listen to my alphabet

Listen to my alphabet

My alphabet

To my alphabet

Listen to my alphabet

To my alphabet

To my alphabet

To my alphabet

To my alphabet…………….
